Cookies Policy

Effective Date: 13 April, 2026
Last Updated: 13 April, 2026

This Cookies Policy explains how Kinu Africa Limited (“Kinu”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the Kinu website, platform, checkout pages, dashboards, mobile web interfaces, and related services (collectively, the “Platform”).

This Cookies Policy should be read together with the Kinu Privacy Notice, Terms of Use, Vendor Terms, and Affiliate Terms.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit or use a website or online service. Cookies help websites and online platforms recognize your device, remember your preferences, improve functionality, support security, measure performance, and understand how users interact with the Platform.

We may also use similar technologies such as:

  • pixels;
  • web beacons;
  • tags;
  • local storage;
  • SDKs;
  • device identifiers; and
  • similar tracking technologies.

For convenience, we refer to all of these technologies in this Policy as “Cookies,” unless the context requires otherwise.

2. Why We Use Cookies

We use Cookies for legitimate platform and business purposes, including to:

  • keep the Platform working properly;
  • remember your preferences and settings;
  • help you sign in and remain authenticated;
  • protect the Platform against fraud, abuse, and security incidents;
  • understand how the Platform is used;
  • measure performance of pages, campaigns, and services;
  • support affiliate attribution and transaction tracking;
  • improve user experience and platform functionality;
  • personalize certain content or features where lawful; and
  • support marketing, advertising, and retargeting where lawful and appropriately consented to.

3. Types of Cookies We Use

3.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies

These Cookies are required for the Platform to function properly and securely. They may be used for:

  • login authentication;
  • session management;
  • fraud prevention;
  • security controls;
  • load balancing;
  • checkout continuity; and
  • network management.

Without these Cookies, some parts of the Platform may not work.

3.2 Functional Cookies

These Cookies help remember your settings and improve convenience, such as:

  • language preferences;
  • country or region settings;
  • saved user preferences;
  • interface customizations; and
  • similar usability features.

3.3 Analytics and Performance Cookies

These Cookies help us understand how visitors and users interact with the Platform, including:

  • pages visited;
  • time spent on the Platform;
  • clicks and navigation behavior;
  • conversion paths;
  • error diagnostics; and
  • performance of features or campaigns.

These Cookies help us improve the Platform and measure its effectiveness.

3.4 Attribution and Affiliate Tracking Cookies

Because Kinu operates an affiliate platform, we may use Cookies and similar technologies to:

  • recognize referral traffic;
  • attribute transactions to affiliates;
  • measure campaign performance;
  • prevent duplicate attribution; and
  • detect suspicious or manipulated referral activity.

Without some of these Cookies, accurate affiliate attribution may not be possible.

3.5 Advertising and Marketing Cookies

Where lawful and applicable, we or our service providers may use Cookies to:

  • understand ad performance;
  • limit repeated display of the same ad;
  • measure campaign effectiveness;
  • personalize promotional content; and
  • support retargeting or interest-based marketing.

These Cookies may track activity across websites or services where permitted by law and supported by your settings or consent choices.

3.6 Third-Party Cookies

Some Cookies may be placed by third-party service providers that help us operate the Platform, including providers of:

  • analytics;
  • advertising;
  • fraud prevention;
  • customer support tools;
  • video hosting;
  • payment or checkout services; and
  • social media integrations.

These third parties may collect data in accordance with their own privacy notices and terms.

4. What Information Cookies May Collect

Depending on the Cookie and the context, Cookies may collect or help us collect:

  • IP address;
  • browser type and version;
  • device type and operating system;
  • device identifiers;
  • session identifiers;
  • pages viewed;
  • date and time of visits;
  • clicks and scrolling behavior;
  • referrer URL;
  • language or region settings;
  • attribution or affiliate identifiers;
  • advertising interaction data; and
  • other usage, diagnostic, or technical information.

Where this information relates to an identified or identifiable individual, it may be treated as personal data and handled in accordance with our Privacy Notice and applicable law.

5. Legal Basis and Consent

Where applicable law requires consent for certain non-essential Cookies, we will seek your consent before placing or enabling those Cookies.

Strictly necessary Cookies may be used without prior opt-in where they are genuinely required for the operation, security, integrity, or core functionality of the Platform.

For non-essential Cookies, such as certain analytics, advertising, retargeting, or social media Cookies, we may rely on your consent or another lawful basis recognized by applicable law.

You may withdraw or change your Cookie preferences at any time, subject to the technical limits of the Platform and your browser or device settings.

6. How You Can Manage Cookies

You can manage Cookies in several ways:

  • through our Cookie banner or consent management tool, where available;
  • by adjusting browser settings;
  • by clearing stored Cookies from your browser or device;
  • by using device-level controls for advertising identifiers;
  • by changing preferences in certain third-party accounts or ad settings; or
  • by using opt-out tools offered by certain analytics or advertising providers, where available.

Please note that blocking or disabling some Cookies may affect the availability, performance, or functionality of the Platform, including account login, checkout flow, attribution tracking, saved settings, and other features.

7. Cookie Duration

Cookies may be:

  • session Cookies, which expire when you close your browser or end your session; or
  • persistent Cookies, which remain on your device for a longer period until they expire or are deleted.

The duration of a Cookie depends on its purpose and technical design. We aim to keep Cookie retention proportionate and limited to what is reasonably necessary for the relevant purpose.

8. Third-Party Services and Social Media Features

The Platform may use third-party services and embedded features, including analytics tools, support widgets, payment tools, ad tools, or social media features. These features may set their own Cookies or similar technologies.

We do not control every third-party Cookie directly. Where third-party Cookies are used, they are subject to the third party’s own privacy and cookie practices as well as our contractual and operational controls where applicable.

9. Do Not Track and Browser Signals

Some browsers and devices provide “Do Not Track” or similar signals. Because there is no single universal technical standard for these signals, Kinu may not always respond to such signals in a uniform way.

Where we provide a Cookie preference mechanism, that mechanism is the primary tool for managing non-essential Cookie choices on the Platform.

10. Data Protection and Privacy

Where Cookie-related information amounts to personal data, Kinu will process that data in accordance with:

  • the Kinu Privacy Notice;
  • applicable data protection law; and
  • this Cookies Policy.

We apply general data-protection principles to Cookie-related processing, including lawfulness, purpose limitation, proportionality, necessity, security, and storage limitation.

11. Cross-Border Use of Cookie Data

Kinu may use service providers or infrastructure located outside Tanzania or outside your country of residence. Where Cookie-related personal data is transferred across borders, Kinu will take steps to ensure that the transfer is lawful and appropriately protected in accordance with applicable law.

12. Changes to This Cookies Policy

We may update this Cookies Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law, regulation, technology, our services, or our Cookie practices.

Where material changes are made, we may notify users through the Platform, through a revised Cookie banner, by email, or by other reasonable electronic means.
